Winnie H Gong, b.s.

BS/MS Candidate

I graduated from UC San Diego in 2021 with a B.S. in Molecular Biology. As an undergraduate student, I worked in the laboratory of Dr. Michael Karin and there was involved in the study of lipopolysaccharides in inflammation and tumorigenesis in obese mice. With an interest in translational stem cell modeling and diabetes, I joined the Sander lab in the fall of 2020 as a prospective M.S. student in the BS/MS Program of the Department of Biological Sciences at UC San Diego. My thesis project seeks to understand the molecular basis of MODY. In my research, I have created a disease model for diabetes using CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing technology and pluripotent stem cell differentiation.
