Ileana Matta

Research Assistant

I obtained my B.S. degree in Developmental and Cell Biology at the University of California, Irvine. While at UC Irvine, I participated in undergraduate research under the mentorship of Dr. Kavita Arora and explored the role of TGF-β in regulating metamorphosis in Drosophila melanogaster.

In the Sander Lab, I coordinate the purification and preparation of human islets for multiple sequencing assays as part of a collaborative study on the genetic risk of Type 2 Diabetes. I also perform ATAC-seq reactions on pancreatic cells and assist with mouse islet isolations.
